Stephanie Allen, BS, DC

Dr. Allen received her Bachelor of Science degree at University of Massachusetts Amherst in Exercise Physiology in 1989.  She specialized in Physiology and Anatomy while there and took graduate level classes in biomechanics of the spine and extremities.  While at Amherst Dr. Allen taught weight training to both students and faculty on campus.  She also participated with studies of the latest equipment which is now being used in facilities like "Curves".

Dr. Allen then went on to Life College in Marietta, GA for her graduate work in Chiropractic.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1996.  During her time as a student there she was hired as adjunct faculty on campus teaching cadaver anatomy and osteology to other students.  She was also awarded a clinical position as a Senior Intern in the outpatient clinic helping students to learn chiropractic adjustment technique and manage patient care.  She also taught for a  National Board study program geared towards graduating doctors needing help in studying for their National Boards

After graduation, Dr. Allen began practicing in Georgia and eventually decided to relocate to Utah.  Since being here in Utah she has been building her practice and skills.  She has been at Alta Vista Chiropractic since 2002 and looks forward to many more years.


Michael A. Layton, BA, DC

Dr. Layton specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological, skeletal, and muscular injury and disease.  His primary goal is to restore normal function to injured areas while optimizing function to the whole body.  He uses the latest techniques and treatments to provide the best care for his patients without using drugs or surgeries. Dr. Layton treats all types of patients, from families to athletes. Some of the therapies he uses are Spinal & Extremity Adjustments, Graston Technique, Active Release Technique (ART), Kinesiotape, Physical Therapy, Exercise, Stretching, Massage, and Nutrition.

Dr. Layton received his chiropractic degree from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland , OR and his bachelor’s in Pre-Med and Exercise Science at Western Washington University in Bellingham , WA.  Since he is an accomplished outdoor athlete and alpinist, he has extensive first-hand experience with sports injuries. He has climbed numerous first ascents in the U.S. and internationally, and was the 2005 recipient of the Fred Beckey Award. He recently published a book on sports injuries, and has been published several times in Climbing, Alpinist, Rock and Ice, Gripped, and Climber Magazines, as well as in The Seattle P-I, The Bellingham Herald, The American Alpine Journal, The Canadian Alpine Journal, and The Northwest Mountain Journal.
